My friend's PC wont boot either.

Have a friend that ive given help to on what to buy. And today it arrived. He bought the Asus P7P55D Socket 1156, 4GB (2x2Gb)DDR3 Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz and Intel Core i5 760. He had an old AMD system with AM2 Mobo and AMD Athlon x2 "something". The way we did it was that we first put the whole thing together. without installing anything and were actually able to boot up after pressing the MEMOK button. it booted to desktop without having to install any software. the mouse didnt work so I reboote[...]

Friends PC not booting

Got a friend over and his PC won't boot. When he turns it on, it displays the normal BIOS POST message for a few seconds then moves on as usual, then the screen just goes black and stays that way. If he tries a system restore the progress bar gets stuck at a certain point and doesn't move (10%ish). Any ideas?
